Is there a way to check a distributor on a 1989 nissan stanza before I sink 250.00 into a new one?

Those old Stanza's used to wear out timing chains jump camshaft timing bend valves and have to be pushed out to pasture. Turn Key on remove the distributor turn the shaft you should hear the injectors click and if you pull a plug wire and put in a spark plug lay it on the motor you should see spark jump plug gap. Coil, Power Transistor and ECM are all used to control spark and injector pulse. There are not many old Nissan Technicians left who remember those old 23+ year old Stanza's. Good Luck
